How to Get and Stay Motivated

Being motivated is something that drives us to do anything and everything in their life. Motivation helps us get out of bed, start our day, do work, be productive, and do everything we please in our lives. Everything you do requires some sort of motivation and sometimes life just does not want to give it to you, so you have to make motivation for yourself.

Motivation starts within. Now I know that saying that sounds cliche, but it is the truth, the full and honest truth. If you want it, you have to go out and get it and try to make a change. You can’t just sit in whatever you feel and expect it to change at the drop of a hat, you have to get up and do something about it. There are so many ways to do this and I will give you a few tips to get on the road of getting back that motivation and keeping it there.

Motivation starts within you. Start by making a list of everything you want to accomplish. If you haven’t noticed, this is my go-to method for tackling any issue, but I swear it works. When you have the ability to see what you need to do, it gives you an idea on how you can accomplish those tasks you need to get done. I’m pretty sure you know what I am going to say next… come up with a plan on how you will get the motivation to do what you need to do.

A lot of the cases where we lose motivation come from work or doing something we do not find fun. If it is a task like school work or something that may not seem fun and worthwhile, you have to do what you can to make it entertaining. For example, I have myself work for a half hour, without distractions (going on my phone, or anything that can cause me to not work), then I set a timer for ten minutes and do something that I enjoy, such as working out, going on Pinterest, or responding to text messages. I also make it a point to get up from my desk for those ten minutes because it keeps me from associating with the not so fun thing I was doing. That gives you a break and something to look forward to after every set of thirty minutes.

Your environment is a large part of how driven you are. If your space stresses you out, do something about it or find a new space to work. I try my hardest to keep my room clean and decluttered because my room is my study space. If there is a lot going on, it is going to stress you out and distract you so cleaning up your space will make a large difference. I know an issue I face stems from studying in the same place for hours on end, so I try to change it up a little bit. Somedays I will study in my room, or I will spread out on a table in my living room, or I will study outside. Sometimes a switch in where you are changes your mindset.

There are ways you get yourself motivated, but how do you keep it that way? It is all about your mindset and how you keep your head in the game. You can check out the article I posted about changing your mindset here! As I mentioned before, you have to want to be motivated and you have to want it to stay or else it won’t be worth it and will not do anything to help you. A thing that I use to keep motivated starts with Pinterest (what else do you expect out of me?) or google and look up motivational pictures, whether it is quotes of inspiration or pictures that you get inspiration from, then put them up in a place that you look at often so you can see them and be inspired to tackle everything.

I hope you are now motivated to take on the world. Don’t forget to stay motivated and stay vibing!
